Fur: A Symbol of Pride

It’s Friday and although it’s warming up outside, I’m talking fur coats. Styling Alex Crane in this Striped Collar Fur Jacket by Off-White was a way of showing her pride. She’s accomplished some big things and wants the world to know.

Fur has always been a staple in the Black community, especially in the South. We inherit our mothers and grandmothers fur and mink coats. And each one represents the idea that these women insisted on displaying public elegance in a world frequently inhospitable to them. Representing their hard work will always be important to me.

While I cherish real fur, I also recognize the need to be more conscious of our planet. So when I shop, I keep an eye out for brands that are using high-tech and innovative materials that protect animals and the environment. This faux mink hooded bomber jacket by #HelmutLang is a beauty!

All costumes have a story. I’m enjoying sharing with you. Keep watching because fur seems to be a trend for Season 3.
